Contemporary Technique is a beautiful technique to master and the classes are demanding and fun. It's an expressive form of body movement that can be structured through choreography but often involves free movement and improvisation giving the dancer the opportunity to develop skills including: creativity, confidence, critical thinking, body control, emotional release, musicality, adapatability, recovery, invention and self-expression.

The classes focus on the lyrical side of Contemporary Dance but takes influence from the techniques of pioneers such as Graham, Horton and Cunningham. The discipline helps dancers improve strength and stamina and is full of passion and emotion. Contemporary Technique draws from Modern Theatre Dance, Jazz and Ballet and is an important skill to have within the dance industry.
Contemporary dance often tells a story or portrays an emotion and this is demonstrated through choreography, movement and performance - all skills that our dancers are taught to execute to a high standard.
